I wanted to convert the bike to single speed as I rarely ever changed gears cycling around Bristol

I failed repairing it as the rear wheel needed an old proprietary tool that I couldn't find any documentation of let alone for sale anywhere, I'm intending to get a new rear wheel but haven't got around to it yet.

Because the old gears were inconsistent and very hard to use. Removing them would make the bike more simple, quieter and lighter.
