Gigi Scaria, Artist, India

Gigi Scaria is an artist who works across the fields of painting, photography, installation, sculpture and video. His work explores issues of urban development, migration, economic development and urban architecture, and his recent works have been described as ‘absurdist environments of the future’.

In 2011 Scaria was one of five artists to represent India at the 54th Venice Biennale in the exhibition ‘Everyone Agrees: It’s about to Explode’, curated by Ranjit Hoskote. His work was also presented at the 3rd Singapore Biennale, Prague Biennale and  Kochi Muziris Beinnale. He has had major solo exhibitions at Gallery Chemould, Mumbai, Adam Aronson Fine Art Center and Aicon Gallery, New York.
